Your Hasya Kavi Shambhu Shikhar received the 2026 Tepa Samman
On the occasion of International Fool’s Day, like every year, the Tepa Sammelan–2026 was organized in Ujjain with great enthusiasm under the aegis of the All India Tepa Conference. On this occasion, international Hasya Kavi Shambhu Shikhar was honored with this year’s Tepa Award.
It is noteworthy that this event has been organized continuously for the past 53 years, in which prominent personalities from humor-satire, cinema, and literature are honored. In India, it is considered one of the biggest honors in humor and satire. So far, renowned personalities like Padma Shri Ashok Chakradhar, Padma Shri Surendra Sharma, Jaimini Haryanvi, Shail Chaturvedi, Hullad Muradabadi, Manik Verma, Pradeep Chaubey, Arun Jaimini, and Shailesh Lodha have been honored with this award. This 2026 honor has been conferred upon Shambhu Shikhar. He is the first poet from the younger generation of humor poets to receive this honor.
It is also noteworthy that the founder of the Tepa Sammelan was the well-known satirist, late Shiv Kumar. Secretary of the All India Tepa Conference, Manish Sharma, while providing details of the selection process, said that considering his significant contribution to the field of humor and satire, the selection committee chose Shambhu Shikhar.
Senior litterateur of Ujjain, Dr. Dinesh Diggaj, stated that this time, considering popularity and stage performance, Shambhu Shikhar’s name was put forward, which was unanimously accepted by all jury members. A cheque of ₹1,21,000 was also presented to Shambhu Shikhar as the award amount.
